In keeping with our thoughts of making this service a Celebration of Zach’s Life befitting our son’s spirit of caring, his enthusiasm, and his joy in making people laugh, we offer this invitation.

All family and friends of the McPeck family – Zachary, Roxanne, Jacqui, Bonnie and Jack – are welcomed and invited, and that includes children at your discretion.  The intent of this service is celebratory.  There will be a few sad times and quiet times, but not for too long.  There might even be a funny tune thrown in somewhere, just for fun.

The service will last approximately one hour, from 1:00pm to 2:00pm.  There will be prayer and scripture, pictures, music, and a few people will share some thoughts about Zach.

Immediately after the service everyone is welcome to stay for a reception where desserts and drinks will be served.  We will have a craft activity for children to work on, there will be more photos and mementoes displayed, and we invite people to share stories, music, or whatever they will at an open microphone (appropriate material only, please).  We will also have a guest book and paper available for people to write down anything they don’t care to share aloud.

We want this to be a comfortable affair so feel free to dress casually.  Blue jeans and t-shirts (appropriate themes only, please), etc., are all okay.  If you were friends with Zach you know he had a unique sense of style and color so anyone that really wants to can even wear tie-dye (but no paper shorts or spandex!).

We have had more offers of help than we can ever use so please don’t feel bad that we haven’t taken you up on your offer.  People are organizing a lot of this for us and we have passed names along to them if more is needed.

In lieu of giving flowers or other things for the service, we invite people to remember that there are many in the Spokane area who can use extra help.  We are posting the names of several local charities that we feel Zach would want people to support.  The Thanksgiving and Christmas holidays are also coming up, and if you care to bring a non-perishable food item or a new, unwrapped toy to the service, we will see that food goes to the Second Harvest Inland Northwest food bank and toys go to the US Marine Corp. Toys for Tots foundation.  Please do not feel obliged.

We look forward to sharing with you on the 15th.

For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

– John 3:16

Love is patient, love is kind.  It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud.  It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs.  Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth.  It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always preserves.

– 1 Corinthians 13:4-7
